Young Turks is a British independent record label owned by Beggars Group, launched by Caius Pawson as an imprint of XL Recordings in 2006. It has grown from an imprint into a successful and influential label, now partnered with XL and operates across a range of genres. The label's current roster includes The xx, FKA twigs, SBTRKT, Sampha, Jamie xx and Koreless.
Tahliah Debrett Barnett, known by the stage name FKA twigs, is an English singer, songwriter, producer, director and dancer. Her debut studio album LP1 (2014) was released to critical acclaim, peaking at number 16 on the UK Albums Chart and number 30 on the U.S. Billboard 200. It was later nominated for the 2014 Mercury Prize. She released the M3LL155X EP in 2015 to further critical praise. Her work has been described as "genre-bending," drawing on various genres including electronic music, R&B, punk, and the avant-garde.
"A five-song EP accompanied by a 16-minute music video/film released just over a year after the release of twigs' high profile debut, LP1. As a creative package the EP is unimpeachable; a high-concept, intellectually curious project that's evocative, accessible and transgressive enough to satisfy the competing demands of a newly broadened fan-base and her existing audience of Tumblr-educated aesthetes."
