Not much surprises us these days. Even creating a case for an MP3 player, where the headphones have to fit perfectly into the fluffy earholes of a printed pussy cat.
It has to be said, we’ve done fiddlier and more complicated jobs than this one. But here, the challenge was time. In that there wasn’t any.
We had to produce a high-quality pack for the Diesel New Music Awards, and we had to do it fast. Very fast. The pack was to be distributed at various summer events. And as it contained a Sony Walkman NWA 805 MP3 player, pre-loaded with all the relevant info, it had to be a prestigious piece of work.

Diesel Packaging
Sourcing the silver tin was pretty straightforward, but then we had to get a fitment created to hold the MP3 player neatly inside. And naturally, the headphones needed to fit the ears of a cat printed on the fitment. So everything had to be very precise.
The tin was decorated with three five-colour stickers, printed on clear adhesive vinyl, and then encased it in a four-colour O'card.
None of which, as we say, was all that complicated in itself. But when you’ve got 48 hours to source the tin, print the stickers and cards, make the fitment, finish the pack and deliver 120 of them to the Diesel New Music Awards... Well, let’s just say at certain moments it was a good thing that cute little pussy cat had his headphones on.
